Practice for Movement
Withdrawal Reflex
The movement:
The Withdrawal Reflex is triggered by a stimulus reaching the fetus. When a stimulus touches him, you see that his body withdraws from the stimulus, hence the name Withdrawal Reflex. After birth, externally no movement is visible during the Withdrawal reflex, while everything is happening internally. Even with strong stimuli no reaction is seen. Because of the tendency to withdraw, often you are not noticed at all. The function of the Withdrawal Reflex is to make the body sensitive to stimuli.
Symptoms that indicate a Withdrawal Reflex are:
-
With each confrontation the tendency to withdraw.
-
Being too helpful.
-
Not being able to say 'no'.
-
Not showing others who you are, what you want and what you can do.
-
The feeling of not really belonging.
-
Not being grounded, with all its consequences; absence, daydreaming, being late for everything; the feeling of not having contact with the world and people.
-
Not being centered in your body.
-
Not being heard and / or being seen. You feel that everything takes a disproportionatemount of effort.
-
Always fish behind the net. Always drop out. Ever wavering.
-
Jack of all trades, master of none.
-
Fainting, hyperventilating, having absences.
-
No visual response to strong stimuli. Having no defense, lacking boundaries, not defining boundaries for others.
